Thieves Like Us

Yesterday the weather forecasters promised us a heat wave. Of course, they didn't deliver but do my kids care? No. They put on their bathing suits, grabbed their beach towels and darn it, since I was not going to take them to a real beach, they ran through the sprinkler for the better part of the day.

I'd probably do the same thing if I were their age.

You can imagine, much silliness happened, as this was the first day they'd been able to do this and of course, I was there with my camera to try and capture as much of it as I could.

But perhaps the funniest thing that happened was when Katie decided she'd try and steal the last M & M from the package of trail mix that her brother had been sharing with her.

Without further ado, I bring you "How to Steal, 101: by Katie" -

Step 1, Make sure the coast is clear:

Step 2, Locate lone M & M on the dirty bench that mom hasn't cleaned off yet for Spring cleaning (it's OK, a little dirt never hurt):

Step 3, Get that M & M into your mouth as soon as you can:

Step 4, Enjoy:

Step 5, Make a funny face when your brother comes back and discovers that you've had the last M & M:

Step 6, Don't tell daddy (Who was busy mowing the lawn and listening to his iPod. He also has the coolest safety glasses on the planet, don't you think?):

Step 7, Just sit there and look innocent, like this:

That's my girl. Well on her way to a life of crime.
