Preschool Haz No Nachos Bell Grande

Week 2 of Katie's new preschool routine has commenced and I think we're finally getting the hang of it. She is adjusting nicely to the additional day of preschool, and I am adjusting as well as I can and with as much coffee as I can forage to not being able to stay in my pyjamas 3 out of the 5 weekday mornings that I would much rather spend not showering before noon.

I guess summer really is over, isn't it?

There has been a big hurdle to overcome in regards to her preschool, that being that it up and changed locations on us with little warning.

When the preschool director called me 2 weeks before the first day of school to tell me that we'd no longer have preschool in the quaint setting in the country (the whole reason we picked that school in the first place), I was convinced that I'd just pull Katie from the school and let her hang out in her pj's all day with me for this, her last year before kindergarten.

But that wouldn't be fair, would it?

So, I gave it a shot. We went to the open house and stood with mouths agape at the lack of furniture, toys, learning materials and anything else that would make preschool fun, like finger paint and play-doh. We rolled our eyes and said, "There is no way they are going to have this place ready by the first day of school." Yet, we decided not to make our final judgement until that first day, when we were sure our daughter's preschool education would come to a screeching halt.

Boy, were we wrong.

Despite it's changed location, despite the fact that I was nervous about it being in close proximity to some kind of electrical sub-station (I am sure there is a more complex and technical name for the structure, but I'm no lineman, don't ask me), despite the fact that it's in a busy commercial area, the school is perfect.

It's welcoming, inviting, beautiful and such a happy little place that I didn't even want to leave on that first day.

Then I wised up and realized I had just over 2 hours to myself though, so I skedaddled on out of there like my pants were on fire!

Katie loves her school and I'm glad we didn't jump ship at the first sign of change. I'm glad we gave it a chance because the staff is awesome, caring and fun. All of her friends from last year are with her there, in "the big kid class." She is, essentially, right where she needs to be.

There is one little problem though . . .

Taco Bell.

The preschool is just down the street from the one and only Taco Bell in our area and although it is easy for me to drive right on by without being lured by the mental picture of a Burrito Supreme clouding my vision, my poor husband is not.

Today he informed me, after picking up Katie from preschool, that our daughter says that she "just might blow away in the breeze" if she doesn't get some nachos from Taco Bell.

And this is the high level of preschool education we're paying for folks. This, right here.

(I'm still happy that preschool turned out okay, despite the Taco Bell)

Isn't it hilarious the things they come up with? It's frightening to think what they repeat to their teachers!

Our preschool changed location on us too. And then all of Silas' friends switched to afternoon class so he's a little adrift right now. He asked to go back to his old school again this morning. Sigh.

Our problem is Golden Spoon frozen yogurt... we're all going to fat as kittens before the year is over if we don't tamp down the after school snack stops.

Ooo. Taco Bell is dangerous for me. Seriously it shouldn't be because when I really think about it, "YUCK" but when I see one, sometimes I just have to stop.

I'm so glad it worked out alright. It's hard to feel comfortable sending your only girl ANYWHERE so I'm glad you like it.

Taco bell needs to know about this - they need a new spokesperson! Who better than a beautiful, smart little girl who loves Taco Bell Nachos! A gig like that could pay for Katie's college!

oh you know what would be better... a preschool just down the road from a chickfila. Now that would be something!

I've been keeping an Impling log of all the great things she's said in her short life.

Your daughter's quip would have definitely made the list!
