The 2007 Food Retrospective (Yummy)

I was thinking about the past year, trying to remember all the funny things (singing "You're the One that I Want" just like Olivia and John with my husband), the important milestones (McRae turning 10, my Grandma turning 89! That's a lot of candles!), the challenges overcome (Wyatt keeping with baseball after being hit hard with a ball during the first game, only to make it to the end of the season and the most winning-est team in the pee wee league!) and the new experiences had (joining and meeting all the marvelous ladies at Seattle Mom Blogs!), when it occurred to me.

This time, I should look back and say goodbye to all the food I've loved in 2007.

You see, I lost 6 pounds before Christmas.

Then I gained it all back last night, New Year's Eve, with a 4-course culinary experience (think pulled pork and apple fritters with creme fraiche washed down with TWO vanilla gimlets), and that was just the 1st course.

Mama Mia!

But all is not lost. I know that I can tackle the bulge and I know how to do it.

Before I was pregnant with Katie, I had lost 15 pounds on Weight Watchers, and was looking pretty good. Better than before I had the boys. Comfortable in size 8's. Energy to spare (that has become a foreign concept these days).

Too bad I didn't appreciate it then, but as they say, hindsight is 20/20.

So, back on the wagon tomorrow it is. And goodbye to the ridiculous way of eating that I have become accustomed to these past four years. It's time.

Goodbye cookies . . .

Goodbye cake . . .

Goodbye fried food. Potato skins, oh how I will miss thee . . . but not your presence on my backside.

Goodbye fruity cocktails, sniff . . .

Goodbye cupcakes . . .

I know that I can do this.

And when I've reached my goal, this is what I'll feel like:

I cannot wait.

Good luck! I am hoping to get my rear together and lose the inches that have accumulated.... Not a fun thought...

You have the cutests posts! I plan on losing about 15 lbs this year (before the end of April) - but I haven't set my mind to it yet. I'm going to stock up on all the salad fixings and stuff after the kids get back in school next week and start taking it serious. It has certainly been hard during the holidays and I have just eaten anything I want - not good! Hope you are successful with your goal and I loved the pictures of all the yummy food (and of you and your cute daughter, of course). See you later. Kellan

Good luck!! You just said goodbye to all my favorite things. LOL. I think that could be why I haven't lost any weight in a while. ;)

Say good bye to all of it, that is a good idea. why is it that the oreos in the panty looked gross this past week, but today when I'm back on the wagon, the holler out my name when i walk by? SHUT UP OREO'S!!!
I'm gonna need some more self contol.
Here's to 15 pounds by the end of March!

I was up five pounds going in to the holidays and today was the first day back to the gym and the gym scale that I use. I got lucky and delivered a HUGE poo and came in a pound and a 1/2 down.

Is that TMI? Probably.

Other than your pictures made me hungry, great post. I need to sit down and actually get my goals set and my weight loss plan in gear. Not sure how I happened upon your blog, probably through Kellan!

YOu can do it. WW is an awesome program, but it's SO hard during the holiday's. I'm (halfheartedly) back on the wagon with you. But, I'm hating every minute of it!!!! ;)

I'm right there with you- WW has been good to me before, I just have to actually count those points...

I think I gained 5 pounds just looking at those photos that you posted there though. Looks like you had some seriously yummy food!
