All's Quiet

Around here there is always noise.
There is noise at the dinner table. Noise while teeth brushing. Noise while doing homework. Noise when playing the Wii (lots of noise, not always coming from the children, a'hem). Noise when kids are supposed to be quietly reading. Noise when playing with the dog. Noise at bedtime. Noise when friends are over. Noise when playing games. Noise when being noisy. And don't forget, lots of noise when one is torturing one's sibling(s).

We have a noisy home.

So when it gets eerily quiet, and all the kids are not accounted for, I worry.

The other night I suggested that the boys go up to brush their teeth a little early, seeing that it takes them 30 minutes to brush these days because of all the flossing they must do.

They came back down after much giggling and banging around in the bathroom with new hair-dos. They made us admire them and tell them how nice they looked. They laughed their heads off and Brett and I looked at each other woefully, wondering how we got stuck with these two goofballs.

McRae said, "I'm only going to wear my hair like this when I go to one of those tuxedo parties."

I told them to stop the insanity and go brush their teeth already.

A few minutes later Katie had completed the arduous task of putting her pyjamas on. It was now time for her to go brush her teeth, so upstairs I sent her.

Minutes passed and Brett and I looked at each other, noticing the strange absence of noise.

"Sissy, what are you doing?" my husband asked.

Quicker than usual, she said, "NOTHING."

That's when we knew there was something other than teeth brushing going on, something was askew.

I slowly climbed the stairs, trying not to step on the squeaky parts of the floor, so I could see what she was doing. And lo and behold . . .

She was giving herself a new hair-do too!

I'm just glad she hadn't found a Sharpie and decided to give herself those tattoos she keeps talking about.

Flutter and Annie,

Target, baby, of course. I even have the shower curtain. It is so cute!

This was purchased BEFORE December and before my vow not to buy stuff I didn't need. ALthough, we did NEED new bathroom stuff at the time! :) Okay, enough justification already!

Although quiet does usually spell trouble, sometimes it is worth it :) !!

Silence frightens me. It means the Wee People are plotting against us.
