I am totally kidding, but hey, if they're interested . . .
Sometimes, I get in a funk.
Like today. Probably due to the fact that there was too much of this:
Which is enough to put anyone in a tailspin.
Couple all that laundry with Katie's mega-meltdown, trying to find the phone number for her preschool (because a mom friend called and needed it) and realizing that it is nowhere to be found and I cannot for the life of me remember it like I usually can (my brain is an incredible keeper of phone numbers, and nothing else), the boys bursting in the door from school talking a blue streak, the dog eating more slugs and trying to ignore the urgent need to use the bathroom all happening at once and I'm destined for "funk city" which translates to those who live with me into: cross my path and die. Yes, it's that bad.
After several eye rolls at my husband for asking me a question about dinner (how dare he ask about a meal at a time - moment - such as this!), I was done. I had arrived at my foul mood and saw no escape until he draged me into our bedroom claiming to have "something to show me". Uh, yeah mister, I'll bet you do!
The tv was on, but I wasn't paying attention. Then he encircled me in a hug, a goofy grin on his face as he said "oh honey, just listen, listen to this song that makes me think of you every time I hear it". He was trying very hard to be serious and sincere.
It was Rod Stewart singing "Have I Told You Lately That I Love You?".
And there we stood for a minute, trying not to laugh and enjoy the little break in the midst of our daily chaos.
And the making of the bed and the folding of the laundry resumed.
I found the phone number I was looking for, and I've now written it down on my "master list" of important numbers so I won't misplace it again.
I ran upstairs to put the last of the towels away and I heard VH1 still coming from my bedroom.
"Good evening ladies and gentlemen . . . Elton John!" shouted my husband, along with George Michael, at the video on the tv.
I am so, so glad that I married the guy with more trivial musical knowledge than anyone I know. Not only because he can make me laugh at the drop of a hat, but because any guy that will sing along with the former lead singer of Wham is alright in my book.
Protecting my sanity, one song at a time

Awwww. He's a good guy. But your a wonderful woman!
And laundry! Gah!
We're lucky souls to have married men that know just how to stop the tornado in our heads.
See? And he can't even FIND the remote?
Plus, he calls me mom.
tearily, Mom
Oh, I love George Michael. My college roomie and I used to put on the Faith album and dance on the couches. Good times...
And your husband sounds like a doll. When I am in a bad mood my husband seems to absorb it as well. But to diffuse it as yours did? sheer brilliance
LOL... "Wham"
awww LOL love the pic and love the story
Cute. Sounds like a totally sweet guy! :)
(:
Sound like he knows you better than anyone!
Seriously what would we do without them? He sounds great and goofy! Loved this little anecdote.
Where did you get that photo of my couch??
