Settle the Score

Mr A. and Mrs B. are married, share the same bed like most normal couples and try every night to get a good nights sleep.

Every morning, one of them ends up with the majority of the bed covers touching the floor on his/her side of the bed and every morning the person sleeping on the other side of the bed (identities protected in attempt to gain complete objectivity from audience) pulls the covers back to his/her side and makes the bed, without mentioning a word.

The day happens, as days tend to do.

At bedtime the person who always ends up with the covers on his/her side of the bed carefully inspects the bed and tugs and straightens to his/her hearts desire until the covers are "just perfectly centered" and asks that his/her partner please stop "pushing" the covers over to his/her side of the bed in the middle of the night.

That's right, "pushing."

Now, in all fairness, I will disclose that when this so-called "pushing" occurs, the sheets, blanket and comforter of Mr. A and Mrs. B's bed are completely tucked in to the bottom of the bed. Snug as a bug in a rug underneath the foot of the mattress and in between the foot board and the bed itself. Tucked in!

I will also disclose that the person who is accused of this "pushing" does like his/her feet to dangle out of the covers from time to time, but in no way is capable of blatantly "pushing" covers over on his/her partner's side of the bed.

And wouldn't logic tell us that if the facts were examined, it is highly more likely that those covers were not, indeed, "pushed" to the opposite side of the bed whence they came - rather, they were "pulled" by someone tossing and turning about during the night of slumber?

I thought so too.

That's pretty funny :) I agree- pushing of the bedding is fairly unlikely.

If, let's say, Mr. A or Mrs. B happened to be gone overnight on occasion wouldn't there be a way to figure this out?

If, let's say, the one that remained was the alleged pusher and if, hypothetically of course, that individual awoke fully and comfortably covered (and any completely adorable child in bed with that individual was not buried in comforter) would it be safe to say that pushing did not in fact occur?

I'm just saying...

Oh yes, that would be good in theory - but one does not want to have to VIDEO TAPE this just to prove to the alleged "victim" that is what actually happens.

lol!

And you're right, all is well when the "non pusher" is away. Hmmm....

I'm a cover-pusher. ;)

Hate to break it to you, but this exact scenario happens at my house every night. And my husband is the pusher over here. I make the bed daily & tuck in everything exactly as you described and hop into bed each night thinking that I got it tucked in tighter than yesterday...tonight he can't possibly do it again. And every morning I wake up sweating & suffocating b/c I have ALL of hubby's covers (and my own!) on top of me, danging off my side of the bed. It's crazy I tell ya! I hate to be HOT (so does hubby) and somehow, rather than just folding back the covers toward the foot of the bed, he uncovers & flops it all over on top of me. Grrrr

I have a crazy idea--how about an extra blanket or two on one side of the bed that the alleged pusher can pull over herself when she discovers she has no covers?

You can't play pool with a rope (I have to say, I heard that one in an entirely different context).
