It's Over

Mommy! What are you doing?

I'm taking the ornaments off the tree honey, we need to take it down.

But why?

Because the dog suddenly thought the tree looked like a fire hydrant, the needles are falling off, and I just noticed that there are spider webs all over the star and the top of the tree and you know what that means, don't you?

No, what?

It means that there might be a giant spider living in our tree, and you know how much Mommy doesn't like spiders right?

Right.

So I'm taking it down.

Good job Mom. How many days until we can get another one?

I usually leave the tree up until New Year's Day. However, that is not the case this year! The stockings can stay one more day...

That is, as long as the dog doesn't mistake them for fire hydrants.

Thankfully, his aim is not that high.

Can you come clean my house too. Looks good I really like that cute little munchkin hiding behind the couch.

I took mine down the day after Christmas. How's that for Scrooge-y? It made our living room crowded and I just couldn't stand it anymore!

Luckily the dog waited until AFTER there weren't any presents under the tree.

That is on my to-do list for tomorrow. The kitten has been climbing on it and I have lost 3 ornaments this far.

Happy new year!

Oh I want to take mine down too! But the recycle truck doesn't come for another week :(

Your living room looks great!

Wishing you and your family all the best for 2009!

You lasted longer than I did.

My kids are used to all their candy going into a communal bowl a couple of days after Christmas as I clean up.

Happy New Year!

Yikes! That visual of the giant spider is going to stick with me all night. Tomorrow can't come fast enough. I am so eager to get this tree out the door.

Happy New Year!!

The spirit of Christmas exited my house early this year too. I took all the decorations down the day after.

Love your fireplace BTW.

LOL :) Poor tree. But spiders would freak my family out too! We'd probably have to burn the tree immediately ;) But I am so glad to have an artificial tree and not have to deal with all those pine needles! ;)

We keep the tree for another few weeks. the dog would have been another story, of course.

Since you are all finished with your tree, come help me pack. :-)

I did the SAME thing. Also b/c of the spiderwebs and also because of the potential giant spider.

Finally, get this: My friend Mommy Pie told me that a friend of hers had a SPIDER NEST in her Christmas tree that EXPLODED and catapulted little spiders all over the place!

Can you imagine????? I'd have to move.

We took ours down wayyyyy early this year too. But it wasn't because the dog (he ignored it, much to my amazement) found it akin to a fire hydrant. Nope, my cat decided to help take the ornaments down with his teeth and claws. I got pretty nervous about him biting into one of the lights. Oiy!
