Friday Fun

Being that it is Friday (even if for only a few more minutes), I thought I'd let you all in on a little fun I've had this week!

Wednesday: After attending the first hour of Wyatt's final (can I get a "heck yeah!") baseball game, I left. The undefeated Cubs were behind by a few runs and as soon as I tally-hoed outta there, they scored big time. Hmm . . .

The reason I had to leave was because I had a very important date. Yes, my date to see (finally) Sex and the City with my friend trumps the last few innings of my son's baseball game. I know, what a bad mom - but I believe that a happy mom is a good mom and this was just what I needed.

Linda and I have been faithful followers of the SATC gals since the series started. We would even go to each other's houses on Thursday nights and watch the show when our boys were little and talk about the daughters we'd one day adopt from China. Strange that now we both have those daughters. Linda has 2 from China and I have 1, not from China but she might as well be.

Anyway, we cried through the entire movie. We also laughed through the entire movie. And I did take a photo of Carrie Bradshaw but my husband said I could go to jail if I post it, so I guess you'll just have to take my word for it!

I did take this funny photo on the sidewalk outside my house (with the lady's permission), although I think she thought I was taking her picture along with her dogs. She was smiling very nicely and I didn't have the heart to tell her that the only part of her that was in the picture were her legs.

Is that not the funniest thing ever?

Okay, so love or hate Sex and the City, it doesn't really matter to me. My mom asked if I could chose just one of the gals to be friends with, who would it be? I was stumped. I ended up choosing Carrie not because we have the same initials, but because she is the glue that holds them all together. I think why I loved the show so much was because of the friendship - okay, and the handbags, you got me!

Thursday: Another incredible day and I actually got to go to THE CITY! Oh, how I love the city. Don't get me wrong, I love my life in the suburbs, but the city is so fascinating to me. The sights. The smells. The energy.

I was meeting my fellow Seattle Mom Blogs ladies and was extremely excited. I took full advantage of the opportunity and also met my super cool, sophisticated, working girl cousin beforehand. She lives in THE CITY, has a new job and we don't get to spend nearly enough time together so it was so nice to see her. We talked, we nibbled on fancy food and we drank expensive wine . . . and the time flew by far too quickly. Before I knew it, it was time to head on over to the other side of Purple and hang with my blogging peeps.

Lovely, lovely, lovely does not even begin to describe these women. I felt like I was in a movie. What with the conversation (everything from babies to blogging) and the camaraderie and the laughs. I feel so lucky to be a part of such a great group and I almost had to pinch myself that I wasn't living someone else's life there for a while. Thank you Kathryn, Jenny, Mona, Eve, Carrie, Angie and Stacy for a lovely night!

To top it off, my parents (whom I caught a ride into THE CITY with) and I hung out at my baby brother's uber cool art show, after I had been at Purple for a good 3 and a half hours (livin' it up!). There was a mob standing in the street outside his building near Pioneer Square - people smoking, drinking, showing each other their piercings and tattoos (baby brother has no piercings or tattoos that I am aware of).

We found ourselves up to the third floor of the building, found the wine and pretended to fit in. I don't think we did such a great job but nobody cared. My mom almost got into a debate with a young man (I think) about whether the sound he was making (which I would call beat-boxing) was acapella or not and for a second I thought I'd have to talk her down (it's okay mom, I am sure that you were right). All's well that ends well and we left without being mugged or breaking a heel so I consider it a success - plus my brother's stuff blows me away each time I see it, I can't believe how talented he is!

Friday: Oh boy, this day started out b-a-d. I blame the red wine, but that won't keep me away from it. I did learn this though, Tim's Cascade Sea Salt and Vinegar potato chips and Diet Coke will cure a migraine even after you've taken 200mg of Imitrex! Who knew?

I was migraine-free by the time of Wyatt's 3rd grade performance of Rise to the Revolution! this evening and I thoroughly enjoyed the show.

And to top it all off, my refrigerator is on display here! Go on, have a looksie, it is pretty funny!

I think the 4 SATC women make up one real woman... and I am DYING to see the movie and am this close to just watching a bootleg internet version because hello. I never get to the movies!

Your fridge, btw, with the Diet Coke and the French Vanilla creamer, could be mine!
