Bribery

Bribery, who says bribery is dead?

Oh - that's chivalry they're talking about.

10:30AM

Me: Katie, it's time to go take a shower and get dressed.

Katie: No Mommy!

Me: C'mon.

Katie: No Mommy!

Me: If you get in the shower, we can go to Target after.

Katie: Really?

Me: Really.

See how easy that was?

Hmmm...in ten years time it is more likely to be 'Pleeeeease come out of the bathroom...'and you certainly won't be able to use Target as a bribe.

I love it! There's nothing wrong with a little bribery and/or trickery every now & again.

Bribery is used all the time in our house. Couldn't live without it!

However, Target would never work for my son. He hates shopping. I'd have to up the ante to get him motivated.

What's wrong with bribery? It's how we roll around here!

It isn't bribery if you don't give them the reward until after they've done what you're asking of them. If it is bubblegum because they're screaming in the aisles of Target and won't shut up until you give in, that's bribery. What you're talking about is a reward.

It sounds better that way... ;)
