What Happens in Seattle . . . Stays in Seattle

What happens when you let 4 parents out on the town with no curfew?

FUN! That's what!

We started out our little adventure in the elevator of our hotel, The Paramount. Which seemed fitting, since we were going to see Jim Gaffigan (the computer ate the ONE picture I had of him) at The Paramount and if we stayed here, all we would have to do is walk across the street to the show! An added bonus, the marvelous Von's Pub was also right across the street (you'll see why that was important in a minute!).

So, the happy, excited, child-free parents hamming it up in the Otis:

Check out the view from our room! Does it really matter? The hotel room was only for sleeping . . . yes, sleeping, without anyone getting up in the middle of the night to potty or be snuggled. Plus, there was a king-sized bed. I didn't even know Brett was there, which, as much as I love and adore him, was a treat!

Aren't the windows clean and shiny? They must use that Method Peppermint window cleaner:

This, this lovely little concoction right here, is why it was important to be across the street from a place that boasts supreme martinis (and about a thousand beers on tap), any questions?

Dinner was at The Wild Ginger. If any of you haven't heard of this delicious pan-Asian, mouth-watering feast for the senses restaurant, I suggest you climb out from under that rock you've been living and hustle on down there.

On the menu:

Potstickers
Skewers of Street Hawker Beef (like butter, only meat)
Buddha Rolls with Pineapple dipping sauce (which were free, because the waitress forgot about them!)

Red Curry Squid
Seven Flavor Beef
Mandarin Chicken
Duck with Plum Sauce and Steamed Buns
Jasmine Rice

and,
Cantaloupe Martini for me, and a Cracked Coconut Martini for Linda!

Back at Von's, my favorite new hang-out. Too bad I don't live just down the street from this place. Well, that's actually probably a good thing.

Jim Gaffigan was hilarious. I've never been to a comedy show before and I must say, my expectations were exceeded. The Paramount, with it's ornate goldness and sparkly chandeliers, was so much fun and I left with my cheeks hurting from smiling and laughing so much. Who can complain about that?

It was sad to leave the next day, but we were both anxious to get home and hear all about McRae's tournament. We returned to my parents house to find the kids and the dog buried in a pile of leaves before they jumped up out of it and tackled us with hugs and kisses. That, is the stuff that life is made of, the happiness we feel when we're all together.

AND . . .

McRae earned himself a silver medal!

We are so proud of him.

Sounds like a PERFECT weekend. I wish I could have gone, too - though I almost felt like I was there with you!

Only 'almost', because I need to TASTE that drink and that yummy food. Mmmmm...

Yeah for McRae. You must be so proud of him :)

You look as though you are having a great time Carrie. It is so good for hard working mums to relax for a while. It sounds as though McRae will be in other competitions so you can cheer him on next time.
