Remain Calm

Now that I've tweezed my eyebrows to oblivion and nobody will mistake me for Sasquatch, I'm ready to roll . . . to the Seattle Mom Blogs Party.

But wow, how do people accomplish getting over the nerves of meeting people online for the first time in real life? I know all you BlogHer women have been through this before, but not me. I feel like I'm going to pass out at the mere thought, and yet, I'm excited as all get out.

Because tonight, amongst cleaning products and cocktails, the SMB community will gather for the first time - well, except for the brilliant women who dreamt up the site, they've been canoodling for a looooong time. And we'll see each other's faces. And we'll connect the blog to the author. And we'll be exposed, no longer writing in our jammies, highly caffeinated, in the wee hours where only our words speak for themselves (not that I'd know anything about that). And hopefully there will be community, togetherness and support for all that we are doing, each in our own way, for all that we are sharing and for all that we can accomplish together if we put our minds to it.

Even though I never made it to Nordstrom to buy some Spanx so that I would not shock all these lovely ladies with my muffin top. Even though I didn't get enough sleep last night and couldn't squeeze in a massage and a manicure in between returning coats that don't fit to Costco and raking up the leaves that have taken over the back yard . And even though I tried desperately but couldn't find the perfect outfit that I wanted to scream "hip mom", I'm ready.

I'm ready to go expose the mom who doesn't have it all together. Who is nervous to meet some of the superstars of the blog world. Who is afraid that they won't like her. Who, if it weren't for the fact that she's entering this unknown with her best friend, would need some serious meds to make it through the evening.

So, off we go.

Oh, I'd feel the same way -- so nerve-wracking.

If it is anything like my BlogHer experience, it will be wonderful. You already know these people so well, it just feels like home.

I can't believe you were nervous. You were so calm and fun and great to talk to. I'm amazed you could walk into a group where you hardly knew anyone and seem so relaxed and articulate.

I hope we can get together again soon!

I wish we would have had the chance to chat more, but I am at least glad that I now can put an actual face and person with your blog! And by the way, you didn't seem nervous in the least bit.

Hopefully we will see you again soon!

I chickened out sorta. Worker Mommy told me about it and my lame ass chickened out! I actually had another commitment, but I was anxious about going to this anyway. I was all like they like me online...what if they hate me in person. feh. I would have loved to meet you, too!! I'm a big idiot.

HOW WAS IT????????

Dying to hear.....
