Hang Over

Another busy, busy weekend has come and gone in our parts. Although the boys are happily at school and Brett is repairing the shingles that blew off our roof in Thursday's windstorm, Katie is showing signs of having over-done it the past few days.

Her weekend started Thursday, with a preschool trip to the PUD Theater for another amazing children's performance, Chicken Little (photos to come later), by Storybook Theater Company. I cannot profess my love for this group of talented, local actors enough. We've been consistently attending their performances since McRae was in preschool, and each time I am blown away with their creative spins on classic tales.

Following our field trip, we drove home in weather that did not resemble in any way, shape or form, a typical Fall day here in the Pacific Northwest.

"It's like a tornado" were Katie's exact words as we drove home through the swirling trees.

And speaking of trees, and more excitement, we saw a tree fall down next to the fire station on our way home from picking up the boys. Of course, there are no firemen there because the county was inundated with call after call after call . . . so I had to call 911.

I just hate doing that. But, the tree was smoking and sparking and something sending a small blue explosion into the air happened to the power line right above us, so I figured a call was warranted.

Some fire fighter's wife I am!

Friday we went to a luau, where the kids ran around for 5 hours with a crazy Jack Russell Terrier. They were pooped, to say the least.

Saturday, we had a slumber party for Wyatt with NINE boys under the age of eleven. I know, I must be nuts, but it was better than 2 years ago when I did this whole sleep over boy party ALONE. I must have blocked the experience from my mind, because I do not remember much of it.

Anyway, Katie went to have a party of her own at her cousin's house. Which was so nice, because had she been here, she would have been recruited for games of tackle football and "war", whatever that is. And, she would have had to witness the stench that emanates off of the bodies of young boys after running around outside in the rain . . . not a good thing. And I thought the dog was stinky!

Needless to say, after all the kids were picked up and back at their own homes, and I'd aired out the house, we were all pretty much tuckered out. And the effects are still evident today, while Katie and I are enjoying our jammies to their fullest potential and avoiding anything constructive for as long as we can pull it off.

"Can I have chocolate chips for breakfast?"

"No, but you can have pancakes."

"Oh, oh, oh yes. I want pancakes."

"Okay."

"With peanut butter . . . no wait . . . syrup! Yeah, syrup and BUTTER!"

"Okay."

"And when I'm done, I want ice cream!"

Yeah, I don't think the weekend has worn off yet.

I kind of love weekends like that. They do me in, but it feels so nice to be on the go.

Ice cream after pancakes - ROCK ON!

And P.S. Maypole, Declan is only allowed to have syrup on pancakes or waffles on the weekends... otherwise if he wants them, it must be with peanut butter. At least it's SOME protein then, right?

Sounds like a great weekend all around, and how lucky are you and the girlie to keep it going on Monday, too? That is such a luxury :)

Hope everything worked out OK after that storm...that sounded a little scary!

Wow. Busy weekend. But it sounds fun.

And yes you are right, wet boy does have a distinctive smell. Wet little boys smell alot like wet puppies. Wet older boys? Well, don't know that smell but in a few years, I'll probably get a introduction. heehee
