Not Enough Whine

All I could do as I pushed the heaving cart full of school supplies through the store while someone asked for chocolate, someone asked for yu-gi-o cards and someone asked to buy a new video game was that I had 2 new bottles of red wine to sample at the end of the night, and one of them even came with a screw-top.

Classy, yes?

Desperate, yes?

Well, a mom has to do what a mom has to do to get herself through the last day of her husband's absence for 6 out of the last 7 days (5 for work- each a 24 hour shift, 1 for golf), doesn't she? Now I am not advocating heavy drinking or anything, and there is no need for an intervention, but the fact that Target's wine section has increased since the new store opened in our area a few years back has got to speak volumes for it's demand. Mommies need a little wine sometimes, and what better place to sell it than the store that will single-handedly turn your cherubic children into raving lunatics?

There are two choices.

Wine, or chocolate, and Target sells both.

It is no mystery that shopping with kids and wine consumption is closely related, and probably documented by the people who market the stuff. And that's okay by me, yes it is, because nothing takes the edge off this solo parenting gig and puts a slight, albeit crooked, smile on my face than sitting down to watch "The Incredibles" with my kids, and a little glass of $7.99 a bottle Lulu B Pinot Noir . . .

I hear ya girl! Just this weekend I was told about Hypnotic. Have you heard of it? Sounds like something I could drink when I need a little escape.

But happy for you because YEAY!

Hey! Screw tops are the new vogue among winemakers! It makes the wine less volatile! AND cork is becoming a tree-in-trouble! So you were just doing your part for the environment AND the purity of the wine! ;)

You and I are together on this.....while I love both of my children dearly...dealing with them on a daily basis does increase my need for cocktails! :)

I wish the Targets in Delaware sold wine.

I'd be the mommy you'd see pushing the heaving cart with two wee lunatics, and chugging the bottle of wine as I'm walking through the store.
Yup, that classy lady would be ME :)

There is no choice... wine AND chocolate! The Target stores in Rhode Island sell only the chocolate, so we need two stores for this pleasure!

Just enough to mellow us out, that's all. And you're smart, you let your kids watch an engaging show so you can enjoy the wine and the relaxing moment even more.

Throw that bottle over here, woman. School shopping DOES drive you to drink.
