The Weather Outside is Frightful . . .

Well, well what kind of mother are you? Allowing your children up on the roof in the middle of December. They could fall, they could slip, they could slide off the roof and break their neck! So, what kind of mother allows this, let alone take a picture of her boys looking through the skylight as if to say "hi mom, here we are on the roof, being really, really careful"?

Last night, our little area of the Pacific Northwest sustained 70 mph winds. That is a lot for us, and this deadly storm has caused massive power outages and school closures, riding the tails of our exciting snowfall a few weeks ago which rode on the coat tails of the flooding in mid-November! To say we've had our fair share of extreme weather is a gross understatement.

So what are my kids doing on the roof?

They're helping their dad replace more than 40 shingles that blew off in the wind last night. I know, we are lucky to have such little damage compared to most people in our area, some are still without power and some have trees adorning their living rooms (not the type you decorate and put in a stand either).

The scary part is that it isn't even officially "winter" yet.

And so, let's all raise a mug of peppermint schnapps cocoa, or another warm and soothing drink, and be thankful that it wasn't worse, yet!

And I promise to get those kids off the roof!

Happy Holidays!

Amazing! We had storms come through our neck of the woods today too, but we were up in the high 90's and it was very humid. Lots of lightning and thunder, but no lost roofing fortunately!

Hope your weather clears up soon. By the way, I can never e-mail you when you send me blog messages - Ms Anonymous!!! LOL

Wow. Sounds frightful. It is cool to see your hubby teaching boys how to be men, though.

Merry Christmas, Carrie!
