Running Mate

I know that it is every good parent’s job not to inhibit their children’s grandiose dreams of the future, so in an effort to be a good parent, I couldn’t resist bolstering my son’s abilities to lead our country. The conversation went something like this:

“Mom, I don’t want to be President”

“Why”

“Because you probably have to write a lot of summaries and reports”

(McRae has to write summaries each week for his daily reading as part of his homework and is obviously not looking forward to a whole school calendar’s worth of future summaries with an encouraging Mom looking over his shoulder)

“Oh honey, the President doesn’t have to do that”

“He doesn’t”

“Of course not, all he has to do is read what other people write for him from a teleprompter and try to pronounce the words correctly”

“I can do that”

“Yes, you can”

How is that for encouraging your child?

McRae for President, 2008. Because really, a 9-year-old could do a better job reading a teleprompter.

Do you want me to design some signs for McRae? I'm so there. ;)

Just tell him to tamper with the chads and he is in like Flynn. ;-)

Isn't it, don't trust anyone over the age of 11? If his sister will be his running mate, I'll vote for them!
