NO BOYS ALLOWED!

This is why I am thankful to have a daughter, so I can mutter these 3 words and not feel completely alone: No Boys Allowed!

Brett took the boys on a little road trip for a few days to visit his Step-Dad. He has a "real" A-frame situated on 20 acres with trees, wildlife and a stream running thorugh it. Yes, I am imagining Robert Redford and Brad Pitt right now with their fly fishing poles...anyway, it's a man's paradise (and maybe this woman's too, I'll let you know when they safely return and I see the pictures!).

Consequently this left Katie and I alone to indulge our girlie sides without any male interruptions! No, we did not go shopping, as any of you who know how much Katie absolutely detests shopping, will know. We watched chick flicks (think Dora the Explorer, Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty here), we luxuriated in bubble baths, we painted our toes and we lounged around in our pj's longer than humanly possible. We ate ice cream with pink sprinkles, played dress-up and Little People. We went to bed when we felt like it, and slept in without being awoken to the sounds of "Wyatt, stoooooop it!" or "Heeeey, that's mine.". Who needs an alwarm clock when you have two boys, right?

And, now, as our time is coming to an end (the boys will be home later this evening), I can look at my daughter (as she wraps her baby lovingly in the pink receiving blanket I brought her home from the hospital in) and thank her for this girl time that we have shared. Although she is still so much a toddler, I am seeing glimpses of the little girl that she is to become soon, and so many more occasions for us to play dress-up and brush eachother's hair, and hopefully, one day, go shopping. Just me and my daughter.

That sounds sooooooooo fun. I live in a house full of boys. I love all the creative things you did and now have the tremendous desire to eat ice cream with pink sprinkles!

Aw, sweet. I look forward to spending time like that with Laurel. I love it when I spend time with my little man, I also love my time with my little princess. It's the best of both worlds, trucks and trains one minute, dolls and dress up the next.
