Wyatt caught me at the bottom of the stairs tonight so we could talk homework. You know, serious stuff.

As we were discussing the ins and outs of his project, he kept staring at me with a funny look on his face.

"What is it, do I have something on my face?" I asked.

"No, no not at all." He answered.

But I wasn't convinced, he looked like he was holding something in and I feared, with all my might, that I hadn't been walking around the shopping mall with a splatter of banana on my cheek or anything as personally traumatizing as that.

"Are you sure?" I interrogated.

"Well it's just that you have big 'ol bags under your eyes Mom - you look tired."

"Oh, well, if that's all it is then..."

Leave it to my kids to tell it like it is. I think, maybe under all the bagged salad and broccoli, I may just have a few cucumbers hiding in my vegetable drawer.

lol! Sorry. From the mouths of... well, not exactly babes.

I hadn't noticed. Next time my eyes act up, I'll send w. a photo. Then he'll see what REAL bags look like!

Kids are sooo perceptive...but in such a direct way...I think you need a night out with a couple of gals...

When my kids bust out with an ego deflator like that, I try to remind myself that when they compliment me, they actually mean that too. It doesn't help when they're pointing out how squishy my belly is, but it sure does when they tell me my hair looks nice!
