The Aftermath

It's past one o'clock in the afternoon. The washing machine is humming, the recycle bin has reached maximum capacity. The house is a complete disaster. The broken candy cane pieces are everywhere, and I fear that I will be finding them under my cushions well after Valentine's Day (did I mention that the Valentine sales have already kicked into full gear?). The kids have enjoyed breakfast on paper plates, with fruit and scrambled eggs (because I am too tired to fix anything else), and lunch consisting of quesadillas (easy peasy) and yogurt with a side of raisins. The plastic inserts that accompanied most of the children's gifts have been relocated to an enormous pile in the garage and the needles are falling off the tree at the rate of 2 per minute!

But here, here in our family room sit three tired, content, happy kids in their jammies. Thankful for the wonderful family and friends that showered them with love and affection this holiday.

WE are the lucky ones. Thank you & Brett for doing such a good job of raising them. Keep it up.

PS. Dad found his pocket knife... IN HIS POCKET. So we didn't have to go through all of the recycles.....

I'm hoping to avoid cleaning up until after New Years. Afterall, we still have two Halloween pumpkins sitting in front of the fireplace...

The more destruction, the better the holiday! My husband keeps telling me that when he sees my facial tick.
